Benu Talisman Fountain Pen - Mandrake

With a long history of use in religious and occult practices, the mandrake plant is particularly noted for its potent roots, which somewhat resemble the human body. There are tales of this plant that date as far back as the bible, in which the scripture links the mandrake with sexuality and fertility. Other legendary stories suggest that the plant has magical, and sometime menacing, powers.

This pen glows beautifully in a dark and semi-dark with a green color after an hour exposure to light. Please accept variations in duration of glowing depending on exposure time to light, and the intensity of the light source. There are different light sources you can use for “charging” the pen to glow—natural sunlight, regular desk lamps, or LED lamps. Usually, LED lights produce a weaker glow compared to sunlight and traditional incandescent bulbs. However, avoid overheating especially when using incandescent lights and direct sunlight during “charging.” Long exposure to warm sources with strong overheating (over 50°C / 122°F) can degrade the quality of the resin.

Drawing inspiration from certain tales of yore, we set out to convey these stories not only in the color and style of each pen, but by actually infusing Mandrake root powder into each pen’s material.
